Don’t Say your Teens to Lose Weight

If you want your youngster to lose weight, the American Academy of Pediatrics has some suggestion: Don’t tell them that.

Doing so may increase their risk of developing unhealthy behavior or even an eating chaos, the American Academy of Pediatrics said. “The importance should be on a healthy fit lifestyle not on weight or not on how much fat you are gaining.

About 35% of 12-19 year-olds in the U.S. is classified as overweight, according to the latest data.

However, ingestion disorders are also a big problem. In fact, they are the third most ordinary chronic condition in young people after asthma and obesity, the America Academy Pediatrics points out. And overweight youth can be more at risk than parents might imagine.

Stop using terms like “you are too fat please go on a diet”.

Some of the following tips for parents to support a healthy lifestyle in teens:

Watch your words: Kids and teens are very sensitive. Words can leave touching scars, so be cautious of saying stuff such as “you’re sluggish” “you’re overweight, fat”.

Aim for at least one family meal per day: If you find family dinner isn’t always possible due to additional activities or busy schedule, plan for family breakfast. 

Get kids concerned in the kitchen: Even if you as a parent “can’t cook,” think of this as a chance to learn together. Start by shopping and pick new healthy foods to try. Try to cook together in the kitchen. By this you will not only you will be educating them, you’ll be making enormous memories together.

Be a good role model: If you want your teen to eat their veggies that mean you need to eat them, too. If you want them to work out, they’ve got to see you doing it. Do what you want your kids to obtain!
